My Favourite Industry Sector

The portable building industry has always been split between 3 very distinct groups....

Large Hire Fleet Companies - who hire quality portable cabins and modular buildings to distinct market sectors such as construction and education as well as other customers.
Manufacturers - who build new portable buildings for specific contracts and for mass orders of the same product to the first group, hire fleet companies.
Second Hand Market - where the used quality portable cabins and pre-owned modular buildings produced and hired by the first two groups are refurbished and given a new lease of life.

During 20 years in the portable building industry I have worked for companies in all three of these groups. Some companies specialise in one, sometimes two and some of the larger businesses have divisions or subsidaries in all three groups. I am extremely happy to be soley focused on one of these groups at Britcab Ltd....

The confidence we have for continued expansion of our business is not just based on experience of selling all kinds of portable cabins but is also based on the changes in the opinion and habits of our customer base.....

The economic climate - means that second hand portable buildings are a sensible alternative to prudent buyers. Costs are traditionally 40-50% less than a new unit and quality does not have to suffer.
The way our customers buy - has changed dramatically over the years. As a young sales representative 18 years ago expansion of the customer base was a tricky task with a few hurdles to overcome; you had to identify the potential market, then try and find the decision makers, then the hardest part was to gain some of their valuable time, persuade them that using us as opposed to their existing supplier was a gamble they should take and finally when they were prepared to take the risk, win the order. Why did we bother! Now the customers use the powers of the internet to find alternative suppliers and the way they interact with those suppliers. Our niche within the industry is best suited to show those customers that purchase or hire of second hand portable buildings makes sense and saves them money, this is purely because we can show them what they are actually going to get!
Environmental Issues - have provided a further unique selling point for the sale of second hand portable buildings. Use of recycled product in all industries reduces the purchasing company's global footprint.

These important factors are supported and further enhanced by the current position of the portable building industry in the traditional product life cycle. This is split into five stages - development, introduction, growth, maturity and decline. Portable buildings were developed and slowly introduced to our traditional market sectors from the 1950's to the 70's, it was only in the 1980's and 90's the industry showed steady growth. In my opinion, we are currently entering the maturity stage so the top quality portable cabins and modular buildings produced in the 1990's and the early part of this decade are becoming available to discerning buyers. More importantly, because of the scale of the growth there is a lot of good portable buildings available at substantially reduced costs.

So, in summary, high quality second hand portable buildings are abundantly available, they offer great value for money and are easily found via the internet for discerning customers who take environmantal issues seriously.

I think i've convinced myself, now for the continued task of providing a top service to our customers right from their intial enquiry to completion of their project.
